Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN NICU
Open care infant warmers
To maintain the ideal temperature of baby to make your baby comfortable
Pulse oximeters
We use the latest technology pulse oximeters for more accurate monitoring of saturation of babies. All babies admitted in NICU will be monitored using pulse oximeters. This monitoring alerts us immediately of any dangerous problems of the baby. This also helps us to prevent the toxicity of higher concentration of oxygen for all babies.
Syringe infusion pumps
Syringe infusion pumpsMaintaining accurate infusion of IV fluids is very important part of neonatal care. All infusions are given via infusion pumps to maintain the accuracy during infusions.
Cardiac monitors
This is very essential to monitor every sick baby. These monitors help us to monitor the saturation, heart rate, respiratory rate, non invasive and invasive blood pressure, continous ECG, temperature and CVP.
Ventilator with Pulmonary Graphic display
We have the latest ventilator for managing premature and sick newborn babies who require respiratory support. This ventilator supports the volume control ventilation which is the most popular and ideal way of ventilation for premature and sick babies to minimise complications caused by artificial ventilation.
Neopuff
This is used for resuscitation of preterm and sick babies. This is very essential for resuscitating babies in a controlled manner to minimise lung damage and decrease the necessity for unwanted intubation of babies

Bubble CPAP
We have one of the best CPAP devices to provide respiratory support to preterm and sick babies. This helps us to minimise intubation and ventilation and also helps in coming off the ventilator support sooner. This is one of the popular modes of respiratory support given to premature and term babies with respiratory distress. These devices are attached to blender to prevent the toxicity of high concentration of oxygen
Opti-flow
We use blended oxygen and air even if babies require small quantity of oxygen through nasal prongs to prevent oxygen toxicity and humidified gas to prevent infection and damage of the very delicate airway.
Phototherapy units
We have the latest phototherapy units which help in treating the commonest type of jaundice in newborn.
Laminar flow system
This is a unique equipment to prepare TPN and medication in sterile condition. This is very important to prevent infection especially in extreme preterm and high risk babies.
Our hospital is committed to control infection and hence we have introduced international standards to control infection of babies in the structure of NICU. Antibiotic usage is also minimised to prevent resistance.
Manikins
Manikins are used to educate all Junior doctors and nursing staff working in NICU and nursing staff dealing with deliveries. These manikins are very useful tools to teach and learn the correct way of neonatal resuscitation and some common procedures on babies.
Exothermic Mattress
We use these mattress for transporting all premature and very sick babies from delivery suite or operation theatre to NICU. This is very essential to keep the babies warm during transfer by open care warmer. This is also used for very small babies who are not able to maintain temperature adequately.
Very sick babies admitted and discharged from NICU
Born at 6 months(25 weeks) of gestation(700 gms)
Same baby at discharge
Baby born at 30 weeks with antenatal rupture of bladder (one of the twins)
Same baby at discharge
