KMCH Honors Organ Donors at ‘Life After Life 2026’ Event Inaugurate Donors Wall of Honour

KMCH is a leading multi-specialty hospital in Coimbatore, with a long-standing history of leadership in organ donation initiatives. The hospital routinely performs complex transplant surgeries, showcasing the required expertise and infrastructure. It has been the largest center for liver, kidney, heart, bone marrow and lung transplantation in Western Tamil Nadu for several years.

KMCH successfully hosted “Life After Life 2026,” an organ donor felicitation program, on 2nd August 2026 at the KMCH Auditorium. The event was held as part of the World Organ Donor Appreciation Week, a global commemoration that takes place in the second week of August every year. The program honoured the selfless contributions of donors and their families, who are considered the true champions of the ‘Life After Life’ concept.

Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH, in his presidential address mentioned that KMCH is deeply honored to appreciate the great sacrifice made by every donor and their families, whose contributions have given new life to hundreds of suffering patients.

Dr. Arun N Palaniswami, Executive Director, KMCH in his keynote address said: To choose to give life to another during the time of profound sorrow is one of the most selfless acts humanly possible. Through the gift of organ donation, the donors and their family members have turned unimaginable grief into a legacy of hope, healing, and life for individuals and families who were praying for a second chance.

Chief Guest of the event Dr. K. G. Arunraj, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, addressed the gathering and inaugurated the Wall of Honour that serves as a permanent memorial for the deceased donors. He congratulated the hospital on being the largest center for liver, kidney, and heart transplantation in the region and a major contributor to the cadaver organ pool for several years.

Dr. A.N. Murugan, Medical Director, KMCH, welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Baskar, Senior Consultant Neurologist, KMCH delivered a presentation on Life after Life at KMCH. Dr. S. Yuvaraj, Consultant Intensivist, KMCH presented Organ Donor Data during the year 2025-2026.

The event saw a distinguished gathering of over 300 guests, medical professionals, and donor families. The event began with a tree planting ceremony and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. D. Arun Kumar, Consultant Anesthesiologist, KMCH.
