Visiting A Patient

Only one person will be permitted to stay with each patient. (For surgical cases an additional attendant will be permitted a day prior to the surgery and for a period of 24 hours, and after surgery, thereafter will the consent of the consultant.) For gynecology cases, an additional attendant will be permitted until the time of delivery. An additional attendant may be permitted for pediatric cases (below 5 years) and for patients in ‘A’ class room (suite) an additional attendant may be permitted. Patient attendants are advised to stay always with the patient inside the rooms and not to sit or lay down in the corridors. Additional attendants will be permitted on chargeable basis at 50% of the room rent per person. Any loss of personal property in the hospital premises should be reported immediately to the hospital security *(Intercom No. 04224323624) which works round the clock in the hospital.

Visiting hours and limits

    • Inpatient Wards
    • Visitors are permitted between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
    • After 7:00 PM, entry is restricted and only attendants holding a valid Attender Pass will be allowed to stay with the patient.
    • Visitors are requested to:
    • Adhere to the designated visiting hours.
    • Leave the room while patients are being examined or treated by doctors and nurses.
    • Follow hospital safety and infection control guidelines at all times.
    • Critical Care Unit Visiting Hours
    • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) & NIC (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit): 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM and 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM.
    • CCU (Coronary Care Unit): 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM and 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM.
    • To ensure uninterrupted patient care and recovery, visitors are kindly requested to strictly adhere to the above visiting hours.

Patients & Visitors

Admission will be done by the receptionist after registration at the admission counter. Categories of rooms such as private rooms of different types and general ward beds are available at the hospital with a different tariff. Allotment of available room will be made at the reception and the room key will be handed over to the patient/patient’s attendant at the time of admission. (In case the category of room requested is not available, another category of room which is available will be allotted and later the patient will be shifted to the room of his choice as and when such category of room falls vacant).
On admission, an initial deposit shall be paid by patients at the Inpatient Billing Department Counter situated in the leve1 & level3 depending upon the type of room requested and nature of treatment. Patients shall collect the initial deposit receipt at the time of admission.

During their stay, patients will receive interim bills periodically. These bills should be settled within two days of issuance. Any advance deposit paid at the time of admission will be adjusted against the final bill at the time of discharge.

All inpatient bill payments can be made at the Inpatient Billing Counter. The hospital generally does not permit total outstanding dues to exceed ₹5,000. If the outstanding amount exceeds ₹10,000, any prescribed medicine or consumable with a value greater than ₹500 may need to be purchased directly by the patient from the KMCH Pharmacy.

The advance deposit paid at the time of admission will be adjusted against the final bill during discharge.

For further information or assistance regarding billing and payments, patients and attendants may contact the Inpatient Billing Department at Intercom Nos. 3189 or 3194 during working hours.

Consultant Doctor will decide about the discharge time. Patients are requested to inform the ward secretary the probable time of departure. After approved by the Medical Consultant, the secretary will ensure that the bills are kept ready. The discharge procedure will take 2-4 hours. Thereafter, upon settlement of bills, the room key should be handed over to the respective ward Secretary / Staff Nurse while vacating the room. After discharge, patient shall not buy any medicine from the pharmacy or avail the food and beverage facilities on credit, as it will not be possible to include these charges in the final bill, once the accounts are settled. Patients are advised to collect their discharge summaries from the ward Secretaries before leaving the hospital. All patients are advised to vacate the room within 2 pm.
Qualified dieticians will visit the patients every day and explain about their restrictions and prescribed diet. There is also a diet clinic in the ground floor (Level-0) for outpatients where patients referred by doctors, are counseled regarding their diet requirement. As a hospital policy patient / patient relatives and visitors are not permitted to bring outside food into the hospital. Therefore patients and patient attendants are advised not to bring food and eatables from outside to the hospital.
We provide nutritious and hygienically prepared meals to patients based on their clinical condition, as prescribed by the treating doctor and recommended by the dietitian.

Patient attendants can conveniently order food and have it delivered directly to the patient's room. Orders may be placed by scanning the QR code displayed inside the room or by calling the following Intercom numbers: 3746, 3733, 3744, or 3125.

To ensure patient safety, infection control, and dietary compliance, outside food is not permitted inside the hospital premises unless specifically approved by the treating doctor.

Attendants, visitors, and guests may dine at any of the above outlets.
Patients are advised not to offer tips to any of the hospital employees. As per hospital policy, our employee/s shall not accept tips or gifts from patients / patients’ relatives.
Patients are requested not to wash or dry their clothes inside the hospital premises. For your convenience, an in-house laundry service is available. Laundry staff will collect soiled linen and clothing from patient rooms between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. For any assistance regarding laundry services, please contact the Laundry Department through Intercom No. 3751.
Smoking and use of alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in the hospital premises.
Patient attendants and visitors are requested not to use any electronic devices at high volume. Please ensure that your activities do not disturb other patients and maintain a peacefull hospital environment.
Patient attendants and visitors are requested to ensure the optimum use of water and electricity. To prevent wastage, please switch off electrical appliances when not in use. In air-conditioned rooms, keep doors and windows closed to maintain room temperature and promote efficient energy usage.
Patients are advised to keep their belongings like cell phones, watches, purses, jewellery etc with them at all times and not to leave them exposed on tables, beds, wash basins etc. This will help avert loss and inconvenience to all. The Hospital will not be responsible in the event of any loss. Safety locker facility is provided in the room cup-board. Please use them for keeping your valuables.
